On 20 October 1879, young Iisakki Järvenpää had something to tell his wife Liisa: ‘I will become a knifesmith.’ This brief announcement marked the beginning of Iisakki Järvenpää Ltd’s story.
The 140-year-old knife factory is located on the river banks of Kauhavanjoki, opposite Kauhava Church. The three-storey building with its machinery is a time machine in itself. Our knives and sheaths are made using old machines and traditional methods. You can visit the factory during various events or by making an advance booking by phone on +358 6 4340 135. Because of the limited space available in the factory, the maximum group size is 20.
Our factory outlet is open every day in summer and during the Christmas season, and on weekdays at other times. The shop offers all the models in our selection, including traditional knives, hunting and hiking knives, kitchen knives, traditional ornamental Ostrobothnian belts and jewellery, Ostrobothnian hats and linen products. In addition, a museum operates in connection with the shop, offering you an introduction to our 140-year history. Welcome! We would be happy to tell you more!
