Located in Lapua, the Lapuan Kankurit linen and wool weaving mill produces household textiles, such as linen towels, wool blankets, scarves and kitchen and dining textiles. Lapuan Kankurit opened its new, brilliant factory outlet in Lapua’s Vanha Paukku cultural centre in 2015. Our spacious shop offers our entire product range, new products and campaign and discounted items at great prices. You can find beautiful design products to take home or to give as a present. In addition to high-quality textiles, our shop stocks a wide range of other products, from books and baskets to soaps and little treats.
Our shop is located on Lapua Cartridge Factory’s former tool factory premises in the beautifully renovated Cultural Centre Vanha Paukku. The shop’s furniture is the handiwork of the Japanese company IMA Design and its head designers Mana and Takashi Kobayashi, who also designed our shops in Helsinki and Tokyo.
A tragic accident that took place at the ammunition factory in April 1976 caused the company to transfer to a location further away from residential areas, and the factory’s old premises were converted into a culture centre. Today, the old red brick walls house shops, cafés, a cinema, an amateur theatre, a library and Lapua Art Museum. The Lapua Cartridge Factory Museum, the local music institute and adult learning centre also operate on the premises. In summer, visitors can enjoy the beautiful scenery on river cruises that offer an introduction to the area’s history.
In summer 2020, Lapuan Kankurit opened an LK POP UP store on its shop premises, selling accessories and interior design products from Ostrobothnia and elsewhere in Finland. At LK POP UP, Lapuan Kankurit brings together an outstanding selection of Finnish brands, including WOODNOTES, IVANA HELSINKI, TERHI PÖLKKI, LUMI, JUHA KOSKELA and NOUSUT.
