Kaatiala quarry

Kaatiala quarry is now disused but between 1942 and 1968, feldspar and quartz were mined in the area. For collectors of jewels and other stones, Kaatiala makes an interesting place to visit, thanks to its leftover stone piles. While the quarry was in active use between 1942 and 1968, pegmatite was mined in Kaatiala and separated into potassium feldspar and quartz. Today, the pits are filled with water and are used for swimming, even though they are not official swimming sites. Thanks to its depth of more than 40 metres, the larger pit is popular with divers.
