Jurva Carpenter Museum

Located in Jurva, Kurikka, the Carpenter Museum is the only museum in Finland that specialises in the cabinetmaker industry. The museum presents objects related to the work of craftsmen and carpenters.

It is maintained by the Carpenter Museum Association, which was established in 1983 to collect and record local carpentry traditions, arrange exhibitions, introduce the carpentry industry to the public and to boost the development of the carpentry industry. To begin with, it collected information and objects. Later, the association acquired the former Parkkamäki workshop and residential building owned by the municipality, where the Carpenter Museum has operated since the summer of 1990.

The museum is open in summer and by request at other times. In addition to the basic exhibition, the museum arranges a smaller special exhibition on a specific topic every year.
