Seinäjoki Art Hall

Art is alive and kicking in Ostrobothnia. Seinäjoki Art Hall opened its doors on the new premises of the Art and Cultural Centre Kalevan Navetta in March 2020.

Its contemporary art exhibitions attract large numbers of visitors and it also arranges popular art events and workshops for children, young people, families and senior citizens. The Art Hall showcases works of art by professional local and Nordic artists. Its exhibitions explore themes related to the countryside and topical local and global issues to do with life in rural areas, from various perspectives.

The Art Hall has two exhibition spaces at Kalevan Navetta. Halli, on the second floor of the building, boasts unique architectural features. The building’s long history is visible on Halli’s concrete surfaces. The period when Kalevan Navetta served as the Finnish Defence Forces’ warehouse has left its marks on the space. Halli hosts three exhibitions a year and its exhibition programme is built on interesting, coherent entities. The workshop space Itikka is located in connection with Halli, and it hosts various events, such as colour playtimes for babies, activities related to the exhibitions and video art presentations.

The building’s third floor houses Vintti. This fabulous space with a round window makes an ideal venue for events, performances and meetings, in addition to exhibitions. The atmospheric space has a room height of seven metres.

In collaboration with other operators in Kalevan Navetta, the Art Hall offers a wide range of events, workshops and packages for private individuals and companies. A tour of an exhibition can be rounded off with lunch or brunch at Restaurant Äärellä. Guided tours of the exhibitions or the building can be booked for groups.
